1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair was founded by market developer Touria El Glaoui, as a platform to promote the art of established and emerging African artists by bringing together artists, galleries, art centres, and museums involved in African and Africa related projects. The daughter of Moroccan painter Hassan El Glaoui, Touria’s aim was to share the exciting work being produced on the continent to an international audience, introducing a unique perspective to the global discourse.

“This is what is most exciting for us. The surprise for people who have no idea what they came to discover”. – Touria El Glaoui

1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair will also see an educational and artistic programme of lectures, film screenings and panel discussions curated by Koyo Kouoh, co-founding director of RAW Material Company in Senegal.

1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair runs from 15-17 May, at Pioneer Works Brooklyn.
