ShweShwe is an awarding winning wallpaper designed by interior designer Ghislaine Viñas for Flavor Paper. Born in the Netherlands, raised in South Africa and now living in New York Ghislaine turned the popular African print textile from her childhood into a stylish interior accessory by translating the distinctive intricate often dotted geometric patterns that characterise ShweShwe into a bold exaggerated print wallpaper collection. ShweShwe is available in four colourways, each named after South African wildlife. ShweShwe wallpaper is digitally printed and available on a number of materials for residential and commercial use that range from eco-friendly to vinyl.

“I’m excited to bring my interpretation of ShweShwe, South Africa’s denim equivalent, to interior spaces. The enlarged design elements make it modern, and the colorways will really make your walls pop.” – Ghislaine Viñas

ShweShe is a popular South African print textile with a rich history and tradition. The textile was introduced to South Africa by German settlers in the 1800s and was soon adopted by local Xhosa women for traditional attire for which ShweShwe has become synonymous to this day. ShweShwe was originally an indigo dyed textile but is now available a range of colours most notably red and brown.

The Flavor Paper ShweShwe wallpaper won a best Wall-Covering award at the first-ever NYCxDESIGN Awards and ICFF Editor’s Awards in May 2016.
