Christmas Wishes From Atelier Fifty Five

Once again the festive holidays are upon us, and I want to take the time to say a big, heartfelt thank you to you dear reader for being a part of the Atelier Fifty Five journey. This past year has been one of reflection and metamorphosis as the platform undergoes significant change to move it forward, and I hope you will continue to join me as it does so. Change is not easy, it is challenging and exhausting, so as always I will be taking some time away from the platform to rest and relax in the company of loved ones, and wish you the same. The studio will close on Thursday 20th December reopening Monday 7th January 2019.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Small Business Saturday Buying African Design And Introducing The Shop at Atelier Fifty Five

Small/independent businesses can find it hard to compete with the ‘slash all prices’ nature of major shopping events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Whilst large established retailers can afford to drastically cut their prices in a bid to attract shoppers, for the small business owner following suit could mean barely making a profit and negatively impacting their bottom line. Enter Small Business Saturday an annual event that encourages consumers to support their local small independent business owners by spending their money with them instead.

Atelier Fifty-Five is Four

Today marks four years of blogging, didn’t think I would last this long, but what an incredible journey it has been. Atelier Fifty-Five has, and continues to be a great source of inspiration for me… and although over the past year or so I haven’t posted as much as I would have liked it has been with good reason. Over the coming weeks I am looking forward to sharing some exciting news on where the blog has led me, best summed up by my favourite African proverb in the image above.
..and as ever my heartfelt thanks go out to all who have stopped by to read, and have emailed words of encouragement, I greatly appreciate it.

Introducing New Look African Design And Lifestyle Blog Atelier Fifty-Five

After a few hiccups and blips in getting things sorted, African Daydreams has now changed into Atelier Fifty-Five still featuring the same African design, lifestyle and interior design inspiration as before. For updating any bookmarks and links, the new URL is now I have tried to make the transition as seamless as possible, so the previous URL: will be redirecting to the new one until the New Year.

Atelier Fifty-Five New Year Wishes To All

New Year, New Start
The New Year is well under way, and how busy it has been already. I hope it has been a good start for you all.
Last year was a period of reflection and growth for me as I took the steps of turning daydreams into reality, and some of the projects I have been working on are finally beginning to see the light day, a development, which towards the latter half of the year took me away from posting as frequently as I would liked to have done. Not complaining though, and as the year progresses I have my fingers-crossed that my projects begin to bear fruit… and I hope too, that your dreams come true for the year ahead, and that you will continue to join me on the journey of exploring and discovering the delights of contemporary design and creativity from, and inspired by Africa.

What a busy year it has been, and with the Christmas holidays just around the corner, once again I find myself mentally shutting down. I will not be posting between now and the New Year, so would like to take this time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year. I hope the holidays will be a time of joy and togetherness for you and your loved ones, and may 2013 shower you with blessings of good health, happiness, success and seeing your dreams come true.

Until the New Year, take care!

Trunks, Chests, Boxes And Reflecting On Two Years Of Blogging

Storage trunks will always remind me of school. Although I was not a boarder the beginning and end of term would always bring the flurry of activity associated with arrivals and departures, and signalling a beginning or an end. Large storage trunks and chests, whether shiny and new, or battered and bruised, and filled with the owners belongings would be stacked to one side awaiting to be taken away and unpacked of their practical items and treasured memories.

New Year, New Start Setting Out Those Hopes And Dreams

Setting out those hopes and dreams for the New Year
Happy New Year and hope it got of to a good start! and off course hot on the heels of the festivities comes the time of reflection, resolutions and detox…how is it going?

I abandoned the whole New Year’s resolution thing a long time ago… it just doesn’t work for me! Yes, there are things I want to achieve in the year ahead, both personally and professionally, have been busy outlining my strategies to help realise those goals. ‘Start as you mean to go on’ has been my motivational mantra for so long now that I can’t pinpoint when it embedded itself into my psyche, becoming the phrase that emerges from my subconscious whenever I am about to embark on something new, and welcoming the New Year has been no exception. I am not sure of the exact origins, but my research points to an old English saying that refers to how the consistency in your behaviour, whether good (or bad), when approaching a task can determine the pattern you will follow towards success or failure; in a nutshell- do things right from the get go!

With another year drawing to a close and the festive season upon us I am so tired and have begun to mentally shut down. The last quarter has been a really busy one hence the erratic weekly postings, which I apologise for. Time for a break, and some rejuvenation!
